Are You Tired of Buying Pads?

Do You Suffer From…

                          Your solution: “VAGINAL PRP”

What Are The Benefits?

Vaginal PRP for Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is an extremely common complaint for women.  It often starts after childbearing and only gets worse as we age.  There are two different types of urinary incontinence: the most common type is “stress incontinence” (leaking with stress like bending, sneezing, coughing etc) . The second type is called “urge incontinence” (bladder spasms and urgency to “get to the bathroom quickly”) . The treatment options of these two types vary. Depending on the type of incontinence you have, your doctor has probably recommended pelvic floor exercises called “kegels”, life style modifications like decreasing your fluid intake, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, and stopping fluids by 7pm.  For some, pelvic floor rehab is the answer, others manage with medications, and for some the treatment is surgery.  And for many women, there is no effective treatment at all and we are left praying we won’t have an accident , or we are stuck  wearing pads and panty liners every day.

However, there IS a new treatment option in the form of vaginal PRP available at Women’s Care Florida , and we are proud to offer this to you. Dr. Michelle Rothen became interested in the benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma several years ago and is very excited to offer it as a part of her practice now.  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used in many different fields of medicine for decades. It is used in Dermatology, Aesthetics, in Wound Care, Orthopedics, Urology and Gynecology.  It has been found very useful as a non-medication and non-surgical treatment option for many different types of incontinence including both stress and urgency incontinence.  It is a quick and easy procedure that can be done in our office by a board certified Gynecologist.  It usually takes effect within 3-8 weeks and patients often feel the effects for 9 months to a year, some even longer.  In fact, 95% of women will report a significant improvement or even complete resolution in their urinary symptoms.

How does the procedure work?   We begin with a consultation.  That lets us get to know each other.  We go over your medical history in detail and make sure that you are a candidate for vaginal PRP.  We discuss the procedure in detail and go over all of your questions, concerns and expectations.

When you come back, we will start by drawing your own blood.  We then spin your  blood and extract the platelet rich plasma (PRP) which we inject back into your vaginal tissue.  The PRP is injected with a very small needle and it is virtually pain free for most patients.

After about 3-8weeks the PRP starts to take effect.  The platelets and growth factors will recruit stem cells to the area, increase blood flow and naturally rejuvenate and heal the tissue.  Does it work?  Absolutely ……for almost everyone!  95% of women report a tremendous improvement in their urinary incontinence!  That’s worth trying and we look forward to seeing  you soon.
